Hi, I’m Yvonne. I’ve worked in the social care sector for 20nyrs now and been a manager for almost 5 yrs.

I started my social care journey by accident whilst waiting to prepare for a career in nursing. I started working as a part time support worker with adults with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge and fell in love with the role instantly and have never looked back.

I quickly worked my way up to team leader, deputy and then manager. I did take some time away from social care to work in a hospital setting but missed social care to much.

I have a wealth of knowledge all taught through day-to-day work-based learning from some of the best teachers in the business, the people who I have supported! I’m very passionate about the job I do and about empowering the people I support to live their best life.

I have worked for Amethyst for nearly three years, I started as a support worker working at Springfield court which was Amethyst first service. I have worked at most of the services within Amethyst and have enjoyed meeting everyone as every service is that bit different and everyone has different needs. I became team leader in October 23 for Mill Residence and Lingwell Rise. I work with 3 other team leaders and service manager at these services who are all brilliant and we all work as a team to support the tenants to live independently.

My journey with Amethyst began in October 2023 as a support worker at the Mill Residence, where I worked until the completion of Arch House in December. Having had personal experience with additional needs within my family, I felt motivated to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Transitioning to Amethyst marked a significant change from my previous seven-year career as a retail manager. However, the opportunity to support individuals in need and enhance my understanding of care and support has made this journey incredibly rewarding.

Amethyst's unwavering support and encouragement have played a vital role in my growth within the company. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to take on the role of Team Leader at Arch House and eagerly anticipate the chance to continue making a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.

Arch House Walking Group 🌿🚶️🐕

We're thrilled to introduce the Arch House Walking Group, a wonderful new initiative taking place every Tuesday at 11 AM! In this photo, LT and JF enjoy their first invigorating walk with LT's delightful furry companion.

By embarking on these weekly nature excursions, we aim to foster a sense of community, encourage physical activity, and embrace the beauty of the great outdoors. Connecting with nature has been scientifically proven to enhance mental health and overall well-being, reducing stress, and promoting a balanced state of mind.

A special thanks to Arch House for launching this fantastic initiative and reminding us of the power of togetherness and the healing touch of nature.

Movie Magic: A Night of Friendship & Fun 🎬🍿

Sometimes, the best weekends are spent with good friends and great movies! At Arch House, VT and JF recently enjoyed a fabulous movie afternoon in the communal room.

With the help of our amazing support staff, tenants wrote down their favourite films and placed them in a cup for a surprise movie pick.

The joy and camaraderie were palpable as everyone gathered to watch the chosen film. A big thank you to our Arch House support staff for making this heartwarming event possible!

We're kicking off the new year by sharing some beautiful moments from our Arch House tenants' recent visit to Bennett's egg farm and coffee lounge. Our lovely tenants, DG, JF, and LT, along with their dedicated support workers, had a wonderful time exploring the farm, visiting the animals, and enjoying a delicious lunch at the café.

A huge thank you to our incredible support workers for making this memorable experience possible for our tenants. Your commitment and care are truly appreciated!

She found it difficult accepting support initially but now wants to live at Arch House for the rest of her life, which is testament to the effort staff have put in to making her feel at home and well supported. They have let my service user go at her own pace and gradually introduced elements of her care package so as not to overwhelm her. She is so settled now I can withdraw my support as her social worker, after 2 years, and pass on case responsibility to Arch House. Fabulous result! "
