First Aid Training
- Blended Learning Guidance – A structured approach to combining online and in-person first aid training.
- Emergency First Aid at Work – Covers essential first aid skills for workplace emergencies.
- Basic Life Support – Level 2 RQF – Provides fundamental life-saving techniques, including CPR.
- First Aid at Work – In-depth training to handle various first aid scenarios in the workplace.
- First Aid at Work Requalification – Refresher training for individuals with an existing first aid qualification.
- CPR & AED – Focuses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
- Emergency Paediatric First Aid – Essential first aid skills for infants and children.
- Paediatric First Aid – Comprehensive training on responding to child and infant emergencies.
- Basic Life Support & Safe Use of an AED – A combination of life support techniques and AED operation.
- Oxygen Therapy – Teaches safe and effective administration of oxygen in emergencies.
- Anaphylaxis Management – Covers identification and emergency response for severe allergic reactions.
- Activity First Aid – Training on responding to injuries and emergencies during resident activities.
- Basic Life Support – Non-Regulated – Provides fundamental life-saving techniques outside of accredited training.
- Annual Refresher – Ensures first aid knowledge remains up to date with yearly refresher courses.
- Appointed Person – Training for individuals designated to oversee first aid arrangements.
- First Aid Qualification Combination Guidance – Outlines best practices for combining first aid certifications.
Mental Health First Aid Training
- Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health (Level 1/4) – Introduction to recognizing and addressing mental health concerns.
- First Aid for Youth Mental Health (Level 2/5) – Focuses on supporting young individuals with mental health challenges.
- First Aid for Mental Health (Level 2/5) – Covers identification and response strategies for mental health conditions.
- Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (Level 3/6) – Equips supervisors with the skills to support and manage mental health in the workplace.
- First Aider for Mental Health Badge – Recognition for trained mental health first aiders.
- First Aid for Mental Health Annual Refresher – Keeps mental health first aid knowledge current.
Safeguarding Training

Manual Handling Training

VICTORIA WINDLE
Hi my name is Vickie and I am one of the trainers for amethyst
I started my career in care at the age of 19 in an EMI nursing home in south wales
I progressed to senior then deputy manager.
I am a trained qualified nurse associate by background
I went into work in palliative care and did this for 6 years and truly enjoyed it.
In 2021 I came to amethyst as a support worker then progressed to team leader. Amethyst put me through all the relevant training needed to enable me to become a qualified trainer and continue to support me in learning new subjects to teach.

Leah Canning- Leah, brings a wealth of experience from the NHS, higher education, and the third sector; her passion lies in supporting recovery through meaningful, person-centred care and support. Leah has worked with individuals experiencing complex psychosis and has collaborated across clinical and community teams to deliver impactful, recovery-focused support; armed with an MSc in Psychology and specialised mental health training, Leah brings knowledge, compassion, and adaptability to everything she does. Outside of work, she’s a British Ice-Skating Coach who loves travelling, good food, and staying active!
Vanessa Findlay - Vanessa, with over a decade of experience in the NHS and third sector, her approach is rooted in compassion, dignity, and respect. Vanessa believes wholeheartedly in placing individuals at the centre of their care and support and honours each person’s unique story. Vanessa holds a degree in social psychology, a master’s in psychology, and a postgraduate certification in interpersonal skills and counselling; her special interest in peer support continues to shape her practice as she constantly explores how services can evolve to better support people. When she’s not working, Vanessa enjoys reading, rock climbing, and spending time with her loved ones.
We’re truly lucky to have Leah and Vanessa join us in leading this vital work, their dedication to mental health, their empathy, and their drive to create real, lasting change is already making a difference.
